For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

A growing collection.

Yesterday I mentioned that three of the large cards weren't yet finished.

They are finished now, a little texture has been added using the 'pin pricking' technique before tiny snippets of fabric have been attached using a single bead and a single sequin.

There are also six tiny 'reference' tags which I stitched last night.

There will be more of those.

I have also started the process of adding fabric to this pattern play exercise.

Pleated trim with added patterned fabric, again secured with a single sequin and a tiny bead.

Next up? I'm not quite sure.

Watch this space.
