For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

today's table

Three cheers please......my cloth is backed. Not finished, just backed so I will save the pats on the back until it is ACTUALLY finished. It has to be finished by Sunday because that's when I'm giving it to the intended recipient....good incentive to get my finger out.....
the printed images? I wish......wish they were my work, unfortunately (or thankfully that he exists and creates such drool quality beauty) they are Christian Lacroix, you have no idea how I aspire...............they are there for something else....you may see that tomorrow....

rummage....

Do you want to pop round, have a rummage on my table and more importantly tidy up!! It's such a mess, not even an orderly mess because I still can't find anything. The cake by the way....my hubby's birthday and yes, I know if I was any kind of wife I would have made one but come on...you know me and cookers........hardly ever acquainted. Everyone loved it apart from me, bit too sickly, maybe there's a lesson in there somewhere.
You will notice that I took a beautiful, clear shot of my bank card for you...then I realised and blanked the important bits out. Sorry about that and to be fair if you can find anything in my bank account you deserve to keep it!
So embroidery, a picture of a mess....well it takes one to achieve the other. At least it does for me.

on my table.....

If you have taken one of my classes you will know that there is a table I use.....a lot. It is always covered with stuff, in progress, finished, cloth, pins...you know. Well this is another table, yes there's two. I take over the whole house basically. It wouldn't make  a difference if I had a huge studio I would still take over the whole house. Not that there's any chance of a studio here, house as small as a cupboard and believe me I still lose stuff. Don't know how I would cope with 20 rooms....
Yesterdays surface has cutwork now, it is worked on a small section of the piece along with some crossed bullions.
If you are wondering where the May newsletter is then I will point out that it is still May. I have weeks....What's holding it up? My fingers are what's holding it up. I will have an announcement but I can't stitch fast enough...
