For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

the missing petal

It's so obvious in the bottom image but I hadn't noticed until now....the flower on the left is missing a petal.....I guess that means this piece isn't finished then, there is another petal to embroider. It won't be a chore that's for sure, I love this section. Tomorrow will be a day to get all my pieces together and hopefully start joining sections. I think I have enough now. This one needs another petal of course and there are perhaps two others that need more work. It should all be clearer by Monday....
I am having massively frustrating computer issues.....I want to change my blog host to Typepad. Typepad cannot import blogger files they have to be converted. I have completed the scary stage...exporting all the files from here to my downloads ready for conversion. The world didn't end, my blog is still here...phew. BUT when I click the ''convert'' button to change the file format all I get is an error message..... mightily frustrating. I don't give up easily but I think I am on a round 25 tries and I am beginning to think giving up may be the best option....watch this space....
You may be wondering why I want to move...well you know how it is, sometimes you just feel like you need a change of scenery but now I am thinking if I do give up number one it will save me money as Typepad is a paid for host and then perhaps I could titivate this blog instead, de clutter a little bit...decisions, decisions and I'm just so confused as to what to do..
in other news...the new class is coming together, if slowly. It shouldn't be much longer now and you will be the first to know when it's ready. I am very excited..................
