For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

quick update

Just a quick one today....as you are probably aware blogger was off air so to speak for quite a while this week, rendering my post about the feature in Uppercase magazine useless to say the least. The post disappeared for around 16 hours and returned last night minus the comments. I would be so happy for you to read it here if you missed it the first time. This was such a big event for me, I was so excited and really quite proud and feel a little bit sad and cheated that blogger ruined my ''big event''. I have also posted better images of the piece today and you should be able to read the whole article quite easily. Try clicking on the pictures too, see if that enlarges them. I will be back tomorrow with embroidery, have a lovely saturday.
