For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

one year on....

You probably didn't expect to see me today but blogging may become a little topsy turvy for a few days because stuff is going on....monday May 23rd...my birthday. OOOOO lots of presents!! I have been so good this year that I think I deserve a truck load...we shall see. Tomorrow, Saturday, tea party for moi!!! How exciting....pass the parcel, musical chairs...can't wait!! Anyhow, a whole year has gone by, seems to have passed in a whirl....except when I look at what I have made since my 20th birthday, monday being my 21st of course. I was really quite pleased when I looked through my pictures and saw all the stuff created by little old me in the past 12 months and I really felt I wanted to share. So I give you my birthday mosaic, a small selection of all the things I have made this past 12 months. Hope you like it!
