For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

bits and bobs....

I have to start this post with something I would rather not have to say. It appears my e-mail has been compromised. I have sent a message to everyone in my address book not to open any mail from me with a subject of opportunity or similar but wanted to put it on here too incase anyone missed it. This happened to me once before with twitter. I have never used twitter since but e-mail...that's a little less disposable. So my morning has been spent changing passwords and keeping my fingers crossed.
Back to the pleasurable stuff now. Images today from my work and instruction regarding Karen's Global Embroidery School. This class ends at the weekend. I will miss it. I still miss my Wrapping Cloth class...I am a wuss but hey, never mind. Wouldn't you know it too, I have over run, we are having an extra lesson. I can't organise. I like to take my time. Maybe that's why I never fit into the mainstream education system...not organised enough for all the box ticking.
So I want you all to look here at the wonderful things that have been created following the simplest instructions from little old me. What amazes me is that everyone on the course watched the same demo's, received the same written guidelines yet the work produced is so diverse. There are some very talented and individually creative people out there.
