For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

trauma.....

I'm back !!! Did you miss me??? Well I missed you....felt like I'd lost a limb...much more traumatic than my poorly arm. I am more relieved that I have my internet connection  back than I am at the complete healing of my arm. Sad I know, sign of the times I think...I've been busy though, no slacking going on at all honest. And please don't mention the c word on here Joanna or Janice...it remains a secret!! That's a little thing that has been going on on facebook for those of you who are wondering...it's really not that exciting but I can't mention it on here just yet.....in fact it's so boring you will be falling asleep, trust me.

But!!! I have been working hard...look at all the white, all the paperwork....the strips of fabric are damp stretched and added to paper...not finished yet but I should have two more very soon. And!! I made a curtain!! A little runner for my tiny kitchen window...I love it!! Before you ask though, no I didn't join all those white patches together, I bought it like that...I'm not quite that quick yet. The printed fabric is MAIRO, an extravagant purchase from Sweden...

So, I have returned....returned to a massively crammed inbox...please be patient., it may take me a while..........
