For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

did you miss me.....???

Well howdy!! How are we all?? If  you have eaten as much as me you will be enormously fat but if you have had as wonderful a time as me you won't care. Christmas here was amazing, family, food, gifts, fabric...... as seen here, can you tell!!?? Not much to say about embroidery today. My white piece has been put away until the turkey stops flying but I played a little with some cloth that santa generously brought me. Look at that selvedge!!! Fantastic, I love it.

My little girl is still here, (out for the day today visiting friends, hence the online presence) she goes back tomorrow so at around 3 a.m. I will be found nailing her bedroom door shut so she can't get out!!
The snow has all gone but on the downside..... so has the sunshine, foggy, grey and dreary just about sums it up. My day was brightened by the postie though, a gorgeous little package from Susan, I am so lucky. The most beautiful lace and tiny little tatted flowers, thankyou Susan, it made my day!!
Well  I just wanted to check in, say hello and all that. I don't really ''do'' new year. It's only saturday, what's all the fuss about?? But if it's important to you then I wish you the best one. xxx
