As promised, some detailed pictures of Helen's white cloth. More specifically, images of the beautiful vintage lace that has been used in different areas. I am so busy today, Helen is coming home for the weekend and she will be taking this back with her. Aside from my excitement at seeing her I have to clean, wash bedding, tidy up and get ready for my class on Saturday (note to self, best buy more food too). The I am taking her off on Monday to visit her Grandparents before they forget what she looks like. We have a new baby to meet too and other assorted relatives to pop in on. No rest for the wicked then.....

For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .
