For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

A book of embroidery samples.

 






Page upon page of hand worked embroidery samples.

This piece has been in progress for quite some time.

In truth I could have gone on forever but I decided to finish this one and start another.

To give you an idea of the size of this, the front cover measures 11x22 inches.

It's hard to call something done isn't it. I know when I was heavily into crazy quilting it was a concept I struggled with.
