questions, question, questions....
In my quest to transfer from the old place I have added a new page today...questions and answers. Just look up, it's at the top under the picture. It is quite long...you may grow a beard but hey just read until the boredom sets in.
In the embroidered world......this piece is now finished. You will be seeing a lot of this kind of thing from now on as I have a plan. A wrapping Cloth created from sections of this...at least that is the ''plan''...fingers crossed that I can pull it off. I envisage a cobweb like structure, light, airy, glittering with mirrors and festooned with bullion knots....

What will I do with it when it's finished? Haven't a clue......but I will have it, it will exist, that's enough.

doodling
It's
a funny day today...anyone would think I had nothing to do. Remove a
child and I become a dropout...late hours, gone midnight before I get
into bed. Consequently can't get out of bed at a decent hour of the
morning then don't get dressed until lunchtime.......I'm a disgrace,
hanging my head in shame as we speak and as soon as I have posted this
I'm off to sit on the naughty step. Meantime I've been doodling, on
camera. A five minute video for you.

three pieces and a delicate sample
Three
pieces, two of which are finished. The other is a sample and may not
get any more attention. The middle piece will find its way into the shop
sometime this week. So far today has been about finalising video,
taking pictures, creating PDF's, a little housework and a few cups of
coffee. Later I will be drinking peppermint tea whilst I embroider.
On normal week days I take my son to work and pick him up again in the evening. Our wonderful public transport system doesn't cover the area he works. Now that he is away on holiday I find myself with more time. That's a good thing but also strange...

old and new.....
an old image today (sorry) in honour of a new page....sketchbooks. Just look up, it's there next to home. It was created today in honour of ledgers which I will be pushing a bit this week with a video to come. We start again on September 26 so if you want to see a little more then just go here.
I am hoping to gradually transfer all the important stuff from the old place on to here. I will let you know as and when that happens....
As you know my little girl is in America on an huge holiday. She arrived in New York last night for the final leg of her trip. Tomorrow morning my son flies out for two weeks to Los Angeles and Las Vegas.... I am childless....they prefer the Land of the Free! Perhaps it's because I don't bake cakes......

decisions, decisions.....
I
just couldn't decide which pictures to use today so I have used them
all.....the main piece of this work you have seen before but now there's
more. These will be joined to make a complete and finished piece.
I wasn't here yesterday...did you miss me? A lot of people assumed I was at The Festival of Quilts...wrong. I was here.... not a quilt in site. It was forecast to flood...a monsoon....rain, rain and more rain. It was lovely, the sun shone.

three new surfaces
Three new surfaces created yesterday as part of my ongoing play time! I still haven't figured out what it is I am neglecting...hope it's not too big a shock when I eventually wake up. The current group of girls taking part in extending embellishment is huge...but......I don't know when this class will run again so I have made an executive decision (me? executive? don't laugh!!) to leave registration open until this coming Sunday. Then that will be it for who knows how long so if you are wondering, cogitating, pondering then pop over here to have a look and get more details and then look at the link which takes you to work produced last time.
My days are messed up this week... the supermarket ordeal took place this morning because tomorrow morning I am off on a little trip...I will be late here tomorrow because of said trip......give it another few days and I won't know my name never mind what day it is. I am a creature of habit, of never leaving the house apart from an occasional foray to the shed...all this disruption is no good. I may be permanently surrounded by chaos in terms of cloth, thread, things I can't find amongst the mess but I need my head to be orderly if nothing else.

home made cloth and bullion knots
A small scrap of cloth which I created by mixing different surfaces.....I have now added bullion knots....
I am having so much fun with experimenting at the moment that I think there is stuff I must be neglecting. I don't know what I am neglecting but there must be something. You know when you get the feeling that things are so good they must be wrong? Something isn't getting done? I am examining the recesses of my brain searching for what I should be doing.....until I find it though I will continue to play....
I do know that I need to talk about Ledgers soon as that is due for another run. Maybe next week I will create an enticing video to draw you all in....
In other news......I am amazed at how many people are still visiting the old place. I guess they are reminiscing...looking for something in particular. It will stay there. There is no way it will be deleted. How could I delete such a huge part of myself. I still have things over there that need to come here I just haven't had the time.....one day.

boy I hope you love this piece as much as I do. I also hope it goes
some way to explain why I am so consumed by cloth at the moment. This is
how I want to spend ALL my days...no eating, no sleeping, no cooking,
no housework.......wouldn't that be amazing.
This is what the girls in class are on today...my fingers are crossed that they are just as enamoured as me.....I will let you know.

mix and match....
I
have been playing with samples today. Placing different surfaces
alongside each other to get a sense of what goes with what. I want to
keep moving, class has got me inspired and not that I need any more
samples but I really want to stay one step ahead and go with this
momentum whilst it lasts. I have big plans for this afternoon that
involve lace, an edge for something that is now complete in terms of
surface embroidery and I have some wonderful images that were taken this
morning. I can't show those to you yet as the girls need to see them
first but I adore them and hope you do too when I get around to putting
them on here.
I answered a fair few mails last night so I am nearly there in terms of restoring my politeness score...sometimes it just gets a little overwhelming looking at an inbox that is over flowing.....please bear with me a little longer. I know it's not a good enough excuse but really...I am consumed by cloth.

white lace, knots and cloth
a little more lace created on my sewing machine alongside silk embroidered with paper, knots and vintage scraps......
I'm late today. Where have I been? Competing in the ironing marathon....and I won. I'm not pleased that I won. I would rather not have competed at all but as you know it just happens...kind of by default. The sad thing is I have to do it again long before four years are up.
Thank you so much too for the interest in my table. You could have one if you want. I got it from IKEA and very reasonable it was too...it extends and everything giving me more room to pile it with clutter........at the moment it is clear......ready for eating this evening. It multi tasks. By this time tomorrow though I can almost guarantee it will be full again. Also by this time tomorrow I should have stopped by to see you all, to thank you for my brilliant comments that I truly am always amazed to get seeing as how it takes me so long to say thanks and reciprocate.

I
am still creating surfaces for school....this one I particularly like. I
like it so much infact that I am going to make some more...with
lace....and with another print. Then I will have so many pieces I can
perhaps wrap myself in them. OK then, maybe not. But I will have a lot
of beautiful cloth that is my own, made by me, to be used by me,
titivated and adorned....
and that reminds me...you haven't had a definition on here yet have you? I think now is the time....

oh no....distracted again.
It really wasn't my fault......I was asked by a person in my class where you could buy fine lace. So of course, ever helpful, I provided them with a link. Well I had to look too didn't I? Then I had to order didn't I? Then it came yesterday so I had to work with it didn't I? So you see....... not my fault. You know who you are (E)..I blame you but I also thank you because if you hadn't asked then I wouldn't have had this beautiful lace to which I have added a cotton trim edge and a few web stitches along with a little scrim.
OK...you did ask....you mailed...you begged...I was just trying to protect your bank balance.
Look under haberdashery too...lace can also be found there.
and don't blame me.

bullion's.....
I have been adding bullion knots to one of yesterdays three unfinished pieces. You can't beat seeing the thing ''in the flesh'' so to speak but instead of inviting you all round here I thought a video may be the next best thing. It's only a short one...2 minutes but may be worth a look.
Thanks too for the thoughts on my lack of logic yesterday...I agree with all of you. Trouble is I get distracted and working on those three pieces is giving me even more ideas. I think the trick is not to actually do anything with the ideas just yet. I couldn't cope with having ten pieces on the go all at once!!!

three pieces in progress
Yesterdays piece has been worked on some more, an edge has also been added with zillions of bullion knots. That now makes three pieces in progress, none finished, not good. Can you see how easily I am getting distracted lately? Maybe I have too many ideas....is it possible to have too many ideas? Who knows..I suppose the key thing is to bank the ideas and work on them as each piece is finished. That would be the logical thing. Do I do logical? At the moment it would appear that I don't.

putting things together.....
I'm
just playing with snippets, cutting scraps, joining them,
embroidering........... all in the name of extending which started
today. In the lower two images you can see the piece I have been cutting
up....a VERY old piece of mine on to which I embroidered tiny silk
hexagons. Heck it was only stuffed in a box doing nothing so why not use
it.
The eagle eyed amongst you will notice that I managed to do a proper link list...on the right. Thanks go to Jude for the tip! I am still not convinced that I haven't forgotten some one thougn so please...kick on the shin to remind me. I'm tough I can take it.

just a few French knots.....
It's been quiet here for the last couple of days. Nothing much has happened...kind of a 'lull' going on. I am sure that will change tomorrow though with the start of extending so I shall make the most of it. Do a little housework to get ahead, a little Olympic watching...GO TEAM GB...they are doing so well!!!!!
I am finding it all so inspiring that my son will be getting a bicycle and a rowing boat for Christmas!!!
I have spent a little time compiling a link list...I really do hope I haven't missed you off. If I have then please give me a little kick under the table and I will remedy my mistake. It's at the top...why? Because I can't figure out how to get it at the side. In truth I want to transfer a few pages here from the old place but I am struggling with the technology of this a little so it may take some time.

candy floss?
There appears to be candy floss colours in everything today....such a difference to white. This was my final page for ledgers. I am only two weeks late and that's quite good for me. That's why I don't crack the whip....everyone else is much faster than I am.
I am so late with this post today...busy is what I have been. I have a stack of housework to do aswel and I keep getting distracted by the Olympics.......I really must give myself a good talking to. And as if the Olympics wasn't enough on its own there is also this....my big news.
Yes!! My little girl got engaged in San Francisco on Tuesday!!! I have known about this since April as Richard asked her fathers permission....never let it be said that I can't keep a secret. I have been party planning for weeks. Helen didn't have a clue and was so shocked when he asked her that she rang me and could barely speak...bless them both they are wonderful.
So now the invites have been sent and received I can share the news here. I blanked the date because no offence..if you all show up I'm in trouble. The little flag on the map indicates the location....not a golf course as somebody asked!
Hopefully I will be less giddy from now on....I aim for calm, serene and fragrant.
Meantime I have a stack of mail to answer and a link list to compile..that's the weekend sorted out then.

mirrors.....
Oh dear....I hope these pictures are OK for you. What to do? It won't stop raining...I have tried crying that didn't work. I have considered complaining to the local council but I can't find the right department. I guess I will have to buy those lights then. Anyway....I've added mirrors to my latest piece and a handful of bullion knots. There would have been more bullion knots but I'm still distracted...tomorrow hopefully.....I will tell you then. Kind of a big fanfare...after the weekly supermarket marathon. (that deserves a fanfare on it's own...survival of the supermarket)
A message to my ledger girls too...I am working on that piece...I love it...so now you know that I can't put it down hence the delay. Sorry!! Sooon....honest.

preparing...
Yesterday was spent preparing for extending which starts officially next Monday. The class blog actually went live yesterday though and I made a short video hence the mess on the table! There have been a couple of sign ups today too so it's all good. But I can't really function properly at the moment unfortunately...I am distracted. I had some amazing news yesterday which you will be aware of if you follow me on facebook...I am saving it for here until later in the week though. Not because it's a secret but because by then I can show some images which for reasons of family being informed I can't show yet....trust me...there is logic to this even if you can't tell!!
Later today I hope to compose myself for long enough to actually do some emberoidery....
