cameo
Lots of pictures for you today of my cameo piece...it is finished. It is also listed in the shop. If you look closely you will see the delicate edge of buttonhole lace that I added last night.
I absolutely love this piece and am very, very excited as I will get to make something similar all over again with my extending group. This morning I have been rooting through my stash for colours in vintage cloth, table linens in white (of course) and lace. Very soon the ironing board will be going up, a beautifully clean soft white towel will be placed on top and all my found treasures will be pressed, pinned and tacked into some sort of logical order...a new piece, one of the processes I enjoy the most.

continuing
I have been working on my new piece for most of the weekend, adding hand stitch here and there and last night embellishing with mirrors. You can't see those on these images as that stage hasn't been damp stretched yet but never fear...you will see it eventually. I still have a piece to finish for ledgers and don't worry if you are one of my girls who is waiting to see that. I am on it I promise.
This piece is one of the many things we will be doing in extending embellishment which starts next Monday. If you want to join us you will have to be quick. Just pop over here to peruse...then ignore if you wish!
I went to a party on Saturday, do you remember me saying. Well it was lovely! Lots of family who I haven't seen for eons, loads of good food....and yes, cake. This morning my little girl jetted of to the USA for 4 weeks touring starting in San Francisco and finishing in New York. Can I please ask that you take care of her for me...she won't be any trouble I promise.

The piece from yesterdays video has been worked on some more.....I randomly added snippets of lace and secured all the pieces on the sewing machine. Hand stitch has been added since these pictures were taken but the cloth is now damp stretching so I apologise but you will have to wait to see that.
I wanted to remind you about my newsletter just incase you didn't receive it three times!!! (sorry again...) It's here if you want to read....there's nice pretty pictures and everything!!
I am going to a party later today...my fingers are crossed that there will be pass the parcel and musical chairs. That's my kind of party!

putting a new piece together....
A new piece is taking shape...similar to the cameo piece which has also been worked on a little more. Watch the video...I explain. Yes, a video, the first on my new blog. Quite exciting but even more exciting is the fact that I have managed to install a subscribe by e -mail button! (over on the right hand side bar) Didn't know I had it in me!

extending paper and lace
A finished page from my own embroidery ledger...well I say finished I may yet embroider some more on this. Today I have a hankering to make something...not quite sure what...I am going to put the kettle on in a minute and ponder. I have a man here fixing the roof of my bay window. Remember all the rain we had, the floods...well it was raining in my dining room too...not good in any sense, a leak. So he is fixing it but I swear if he doesn't stop banging soon I will be forced to stick with the indoor pool....count to ten Karen.
Do you like my new place? I still have some fixing up to do, a link list, a subscriber by e mail button. I have been searching for that one and can't find it anywhere. Moving is never easy.

paper and lace
Second day in my new home, still feeling my way round looking for things...I will get there in the end...... promise. I have been embroidering for ledgers....yes ledgers that was supposed to finish last week but teacher is still catching up. Well I suppose this was unplanned, an extra but I have to say it has me totally and utterly distracted. I will be adding this to the next ledgers class in September...I am so enamoured with it. If I was being good I would hide this then I would have to get on with other stuff...then again my mum said I haven't done as I was told since I was two......

continuing work on the edge
I
worked a little more on the edge of cameos last night. I was so tired I
hardly made any progress...didn't go to bed early though. I cannot find
it in me to go to bed early no matter what..life's too short, too much
to do, might miss something...all of those!
My latest newsletter is now published and you will get it in your inbox soon if you are on my list. There's quite a bit of information in there which I won't repeat here except to say that An Embroiderers Ledger is now for sale again. You can read more in the newsletter which is here.
My move here is permanent now but I will be posting reminders over at Contemporary Embroidery for a while just as a reminder and to get people over here...it's been lonely today! Pop in...regularly, the kettle is always on, the boxes are unpacked...almost. I am quite friendly if you get me on a good day.
I think I have rectified the commenting problem...fingers crossed!
I'm back again...to say sorry. Some of you got your newsletter 3 times..what can I say, I am inept, useless and any other variation on that theme.
