For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Two finished weavings and an embroidery hoop.

The two little weavings from here are now finished and ready to be placed in a little artist book.

They are laid here against a little hoop of hand embroidery.

These pieces will also be used for pages in an artist book after being cut from the large piece of cloth.

Each of the little books, one of which you can see in a video in this post have 24 'sides' of pages to fill.

That's a lot of titivation!!

(the pages in the current, in progress artist books measure 3 x 3 inches. The weavings measure 2 x 2 1/2 inches.)
