For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

ten minutes.....

Only ten minutes of yesterday was spent embroidering. It was still a brilliant day, I had fun. Just before bed time I picked this up and added three little applique circles cut from vintage cloth along with a couple of bullion knots.
I feel as if it is the clam before the storm. I had my alone time last week. I have had visitors this weekend. One week from tomorrow my new class begins. This week I plan to get ahead of myself on artwork, samples, ledger pages, information, definition....all in preparation. Time for another list then.

Ten minutes is better than no stitching time - at least in my opinion anyway. You accomplished much in your ten minutes!

I love typos!
The clam before the storm sounds like a really nasty dose of food poisoning, I really hope that's not what you meant!

One week from TOMORROW!! NOOOOOOOO!
I is not ready I has no time. bugger bugger bugger.
I will be there, a little late, scattering hair pins, pencils and sweetie wrappers as I go. I will have forgotten all of my kit and will have to borrow a pencil to take notes on the back of a receipt. Where has time gone?

I was wondering about the clam too but Sue spotted it before me. I love the image..the clam....before the storm. Poor thing.
Good luck with the new course.
