For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

A good ''do''

Well, it's been and gone, over in a flash! I had a fantastic time at the ''makey do''. Met some amazing people, made some sales, visited Kent for the first time, experienced the worlds biggest car park, (the M25!) and received so much amazing, mind blowing feedback it's enough to make a girls head swell! I have to say, infact there are no words to say what a fantastic job Jenny did organising this, three cheers for Jenny! Not only did she organise the do, she took my pics for me because being dumb....I forgot my camera! So sadly I have no other pics for you, I know, I'm pathetic! Well here it is, my stall. Being overly critical (as I am, you know me!) I think it looks a teeny bit scruffy? Yes? Do you think? Not sure if I am happy with it, but hey, it's too late now! If I had taken my camera I would have been able to show you the gorgeous work of Kirsty. If you pop over to her blog she has lots of pics, much more organised than me! (I even think my husband sneaked in there somewhere!) I am cheating a bit now with pictures. These have been on flickr since last week but are unseen here and as I have been otherwise engaged I have nothing else to show you, sorry! This is the third doll I made for the do and I think she is the prettiest so far. I had to wrestle her out of the hands of my daughter at the weekend and as she didn't sell she will be going in the shop later in the week. My daughter did manage to wrestle a cushion off me but I reckon I got off lightly only losing one thing!

Now for my plans.....I finsh work on wednesday for SEVEN weeks. It feels like I am dreaming but it's true and I have so many things I want to do. First will be a massive revamp of the shop. I am going to re name all my sections and relist some stuff along with listing what I didn't sell at the weekend. The shop is set to vacation mode at the moment but if you want any info on anything just e-mail. I am hoping to re-open on thursday fingers crossed. I also want to start more work. Did I mention I was going to New Designers when I was in London? Well I did and it always inspires and invigorates me, a morning well spent.
I know I have so many people to reply too, I haven't forgotten you all and you will hear from me soon. Take care and have a fantastic week! x

PS How on earth could your stall be described as 'scruffy'?

Ah, you threw me with the Monday post! I'm so pleased it went well. Your stall looks lovely and it's unimaginable to me that one person could have completed all that work in just a few weeks, alongside teaching too. The new doll is beautiful. great colours.
Janice.
