For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Growing.....

Compare this to Wednesday...it's growing, maybe slowly but it's growing.

The smaller piece from Wednesday has been stitched to the main piece and there is a new small piece waiting to go on.

This is created from one inch hexagons.

At it's widest points the main piece measures twenty two by eleven inches, the small piece nine and a half by eight inches.

When I am stitching this I am tempted to remove the card templates from the central areas.

Can anyone who knows about these things tell me if there's any reason I shouldn't do that?
