For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Three in progress.

Three embroidered pieces in progress.

Two of these will be joined, the other will be joined to a piece as yet unmade.

I'm thinking, next year I want to create something more substantial.

The cogs are turning and there is the tiniest spark of an idea.

The next week or so may involve a little doodling and a little note writing.

(to my class....I made a video this morning, you will get that at the weekend xx)
