For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

The sofa box

This little box sits on my sofa.

I keep all the little bits I might need for sewing of an evening.

The contents change depending on what I'm working on.

Well I say that, I'm not the best at swapping things out lol.

It often overflows with things for several projects.

It's quite tidy here but I definitely need to sort it out.

If you have taken one of my online classes which has been lost following the Typepad shutdown I want to reassure you that I am working in the background to get all video links to you.

It's a huge task so please bear with me.

Meanwhile, if anyone desperately needs access to a class to allow you to continue with anything 'in progress' pleae let me know and I will try and help.

I have a rectangular padded board that sits on the coffee table with all my bits for evening stitching - and like yours, its often a bit messy and a bit overloaded but it's a constant presence in the family room... I couldn't be without it!
