For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

One of the ways I use patchwork....

Patchwork, hexagons, stash. All relevant here.

In this post I was stitching hexagons, building a stash.

Those pieces will be used in artist books or as surface embellishments on embroidered pieces.

Today it's another use for patchwork, specifically hexagons.

Page keepers for artist books,  closing sleeves for artist books.

The first image below shows an unfinished page keep alongside 2 completed pieces.

In the other images today you can see those in use.

For me, these pieces 'complete' the process of creating an artist book.

Hi Inge, I think you are now a member of my Ko_Fi group? Sadly, all my past classes were hosted on Typepad which has closed down. I lost everything. The Ko-Fi learning is the only one I have at the moment.
