For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Lace like cloth, sequins and hand embroidery.

This image appeared in my facebook memories a couple of days ago.

I remembered creating this and how much I love these surfaces.

This type of cloth accepts stitch beautifully and responds so well to extra titivations such as sequins and beads.

In an effort to 'remember' my past work I hope to repost it here over time, rescuing images that were lost through the Typepad shutdown.

I do have all images of past work stored on my computer.

There are however thousands of those.

Going forward, this blog will be a mix of old and new work so if you have seen it before I apologise.

Who knows though....you may have forgotten all about it like I have!

Below are images of similar pieces.

If you have taken one of my online classes which has been lost following the Typepad shutdown I want to reassure you that I am working in the background to get all video links to you.

It's a huge task so please bear with me.

Meanwhile, if anyone desperately needs access to a class to allow you to continue with anything 'in progress' pleae let me know and I will try and help.

I never tire of seeing images of your past work, and this one is particular beautiful. Your work is amazing and you were so smart to keep your photos... technology comes and goes and I suspect Typed is only the first of it.
