For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Embroidered cloth sample books.

In yesterdays post I mentioned I may create a page on here dedicated to images of embroidered sample books.

I've done it.

You will find it here.

Hopefully I will add to it over time.

There is a permanent link to the page at the top of this blog under the header image.

Please use it to examine the images closely and hopefully be inspired.

The new space is already looking fabulous with the luscious books you have included. I'll be keeping an eye out for more.

Inspired? I never (not ever!) come to your blog and NOT be inspired. Now the acting upon said inspiration is a whole 'nother thing, but at least I'm thinking about it.
