last night and then today....
Last night I began embroidery on the joining seam of my pouch after I had finished the surface of the pin cushion pieces. (no pictures of those yet...sorry, hopefully tomorrow) I am doing the loopy thing on this seam. It is slow, it is time consuming....it is my idea of perfect.
Today I am getting ready for Lace class. I am soooooooo excited. I have made one video and plan another for today too. I get to play with cloth and as you can see my ironing board is festooned with fabric and my boxes of trims are creating havoc. I don't care, I can tidy up later.
Whilst I am doing all this, playing with lace and fabric and making a mess I am listening to this.....constantly...on a loop. I love it. It reminds me of last Friday night when I was almost close enough to touch.
I meant to say thanks yesterday and I forgot, sorry. Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Helen when I was away and I also wanted to say that yes, it's pretty amazing that we bought her wedding dress quickly without any hitches. That is because we did a lot of research first, looking, searching, google, catalogues. We were prepared. She knew what she wanted and where to go. That's my girl!
I am still having commenting problems. Some of you are still going into my spam folder. Please don't worry if you comment and it disappears...I will find it in spam which I now check hourly.

Hi. I'm home.....
I'm back, did you notice? Where to start.....it's been a whirlwind, it is still a whirlwind. I made a video, talking can be easier. I had the best time. On Friday we went to see these and stayed over. Saturday we went here where I took afternoon tea at this amazing place. I bought a wedding dress!! Yes, my little girl now has her wedding dress. That has to be a secret though...sorry! I shopped for fabric in John Lewis and found some vintage treasures here. You can see all of those in the video. We also had a brilliant day here....I would recommend it. You can see lots more images of my trip on my instagram too.
Yesterday I came home and did absolutely nothing so this morning I had to face the dreaded supermarket run and you wouldn't believe the pile of dirty washing I have. Mere trivia however compared to the embroidery I have planned. I am happy to be home but would have been just as happy to stay away if that makes sense.
I closed the shop when I was away but have re opened this morning so if you have been waiting to register for lace class which starts VERY soon or Alchemy then you can now do that.
Phew.....now I have to go and make a video for the embroider, embellish, create girls. If you are listening girls I am coming to flickr shortly so get your pencils sharpened !!

just this
I'm running a bit behind today. I had to do the dreaded supermarket run this morning as I won't be here tomorrow. Happily I have finished the embroidery on my pouch too and it is damp stretched ready to be put together and finished when I get back. So today is a tying up of loose ends day. I will clean the house leaving it spick and span and leave the laundry basket empty.
Tomorrow I will be here, spending the night and on Saturday I go here until Tuesday night. I will be posting to Instagram and facebook, images of food, shops, landmarks, goodies I might buy.....maybe even wedding dresses!! Take care of yourselves......I miss you already.

lollipop?
I inadvertently created a lollipop! The applique with the bullion knot edge...can you see a lollipop? I continued with this piece yesterday and also finished off the puffs. My new piece will have to wait until I come back from my travels. I want to ponder that one a little, make sure I am certain where I want to take it
I am amazed at how quickly this pouch is progressing. If I wasn't going away it would be backed, edged and finished by the weekend. Tonight I hope to finish the surface embroidery, the final touches and then I will damp stretch it ready for finishing when I get back next week. Hopefully the pin pillows will be finished by the end of next week too. I just have to hope that I don't find too many vintage treasures in London that will distract me and throw me off course. Then again....you know I will.

today....
It's all good today. Up early, ironing board straight up, fabric out. A new piece put together, (you may see that tomorrow) and a lot of excitement removing last nights work from the damp stretching board...I positively couldn't contain myself. I added to my next pouch thingy with bullion knots, a snippet of lace and two very appealing edges that have me obsessed. I can guarantee there will be more of those. I made a video to show you those closely. This afternoon I have an appointment. I don't want to go. I want to stay home and play.....

bits and bobs
Can you tell that this weeks homework in class is funky puffs? I haven't made many myself, half a dozen. I expect everyone else will make thousands.....yes thousands. I have also titivated two of the backgrounds for pin pillows. Talk about time consuming. It's a good thing I'm not on a deadline and that slow to me equals perfect. These two took me a few hours last night and I haven't even made any tabs or backed them yet. There won't be any ready for the shop before I go away...my pouch/pocket thingy is calling me as is my wrapping cloth. And then there is a germ of a new venture, a new class. A basic class, a class about going back to basic tradition, pure stitch. Making patches of stitch, making cloth out of patches, making strips of stitch, fragments of stitch and bringing them all together in cloth. Are you following? Does it make sense? When my head is straight I will know more. Then you will know more. Meantime...how long is it since you saw the wonderful things my girls are making? They make me very proud indeed.

the second pouch
I made you a little video this morning....about this pouch thingy that is under construction. I am still on my lonesome....definitely not complaining especially as last night I had the company of Bobby Simone. Oh my goodness, I'm still all of a flutter! I also managed to make more lace and embroider on the second section of the pouch so as you can see it's productivity all the way....
The rest of today......unfortunately there is dusting to be done. Aside from that it's just me, Bobby and my embroidery. Happy days.

titivating
It's a long one today...in terms of images at least so maybe you want to put the kettle on. I'm being indecisive, couldn't decide which ones to leave out and didn't want to leave any until tomorrow. I have been making more cloth of the lace variety...ripe for titivating into pincushions. This is the cloth we will be making in lace class in a couple of weeks. There will be a lot of these images going on facebook and instagram later....you will be bored to death and have grown beards before bedtime. Death by lace cloth, there are worse ways to go.
We had a lovely meal last night....d e l i c i o u s. There are pics of that on instagram too...there is a link up top. (right hand side) Then there is this...my latest pouch/pocket thingy.
This one is coming along, slowly but it's coming. I feel as if I am on a roll and don't want to stop. It would be better if my trip to London was three weeks away not next week. Then again....all those lovely fabric shops, vintage shops. I will force myself to go.

festooned/veil thingy
There are a few more images of my veil thing today, a closer look. I love this a lot. It is now hanging with the other cloth I showed you earlier in the week. It may just stay there then I can look at it more often than would be possible if it was laid on my bed.
I have had a few mails about my pin pillow.....asking if I have any to sell. I am wondering if I should make some more for the shop. I probably will, as a small diversion. I will keep you posted on that one. Then there is the white bowl. A couple of commenter's asking why I am using something I bought for my son and his girlfriend, (for when they buy their house) to keep scraps of cloth in....well don't you remember? I bought them one and liked it so much I went back and got one for myself. So the ever present white bowl belongs to moi!
I have to go now, I'm going out. The girls in class have had their lesson, my pictures of embroidery that I take every day are taken, I have watched a decent amount of THE FUNERAL on TV. Then tonight I am going here, a belated birthday celebration for my little boy. See you tomorrow......

details
I've been busy today. There was another, earlier post just look below. That was my table at nine o'clock this morning. These pictures are of the detail from yesterdays hanging cloths and also the final, finished edge of my veil thing.
The wrapping cloth now has tabs, bullion seams and a little bullion 'fence'. The festooned/veil thingy is now completely finished...woo hoo!! Last night I embroidered more on my latest piece, my new muslin pouch and I hope to get images of that later. I have also put together a couple of small pieces, strips of cloth. They may have embroidery added before the day is out and then there is lace....a sewing machine...scrim and a plan for more to go on my curtain. I best get going then there's work to be done.

this weekend
Boring was not the best choice of words to describe how I view Sundays in yesterdays post. Here is the evidence that I am never bored, that I always have cloth to stitch or stretch or join or piece. No, not boring....too quiet perhaps....almost as if the rest of the world is asleep. I want to shout WAKE UP!!! I do consider myself well and truly chastised though...is it appropriate to thank you for telling me off? Well thank you for caring enough about my funny mood to try and get me out of it anyway.
As you can see from the pictures I had a busy weekend. I stitched seams, I embroidered bullion knots and running stitch and buttonhole lace and French knots. I added tabs and loops and I damp stretched. This morning I hung work like this....I love hanging cloth like this. It says something that flat, framed, wrapped, placed in a drawer can't say. To me it says domesticity, cloth and home. Walking past this, having this at my side whilst I type ....it makes me feel satisfied, accepting.

two
Two little embroidered motifs have been added to the new pocket thingy. I embroidered these last night, feet up, tv on, kettle on the boil. Everything considered it has been a quiet weekend. Quiet is good yet sometimes it's boring. I have never been a fan of Sunday. I will resist the urge to say that Sunday annoys me in the way getting my hair cut annoys me. If I did that then you would think I live my life in a constant state of annoyance which I don't. It just so happens that two of the things which annoy me have happened in the same week. Yes, I know Sunday happens every week but the dreaded hair cut doesn't........hence the extra annoyance this week.
Can you tell I am in a funny mood today, out of sorts, directionless, aimless. Maybe I need a break. In two weeks time I go to London for a few days...I will be on top of the world when I come back. London energises me, inspires me... ......(it wears me out too but in a good way)
What I need I think is a good talking to....a ''pull your socks up girl'' talking to....feel free to chastise me. It is needed.

pocket? pouch? thingy?
I'm not sure this qualifies as a new challenge but it is a new piece of the pocket, pouch or thingy variety. It helps to stitch whilst I think, whilst the cogs turn and yes, there were things I could have continued with instead of starting a new piece but then you would be seeing the same old stuff over and over again. You would have been asleep before you even reached this point. So cloth was pieced, pinned and tacked and a tiny amount of titivation was added before I went to bed. This morning I started making a piece of lace to go on here and hopefully tonight I can hand embroider some of this to the surface.
I was somewhat distracted last night by a link Henrietta sent me....I really would watch this video if I were you. It is very thought provoking and made me revisit the reason I do what I do, reminding me of the reason I am in love with cloth....
onto the boring tedious side of life now. If you leave a comment and can't see it then it has probably gone into my spam folder. I check that regularly and will publish it from there. Typepad asks that we bear with them....hmmmmm

a hoop full of bullion knots and another corner...
I finished another corner of my veil/festooned/lace thingy last night. I only have around 4 inches of the edge to complete now but I am searching for the right piece of lace to fit in there. I can't just add any only tat can I. I didn't feel like rummaging last night, I was cosy and chilled on the sofa so I picked up my wrapping cloth and added a zillion bullion knots to a seam...I think someone asked me what I was going to use this veil thingy for. The answer is nothing. It will just sit beautifully on my bed.
I feel slightly 'un focused' today....does that make sense? Like I need a challenge...like I want something new...not that I have a clue what I need or want or am searching for. The answer? Probably to put the kettle on.....

pink angst....
I am undecided....or should I say I was undecided. I wasn't sure I liked the pink in this particular type of work, the lace work I have been doing. So I talked it over with you in a video and we decided between us that it isn't going to work for me. Nothing lost, active sampling, sampling resulting in decision making. I will keep this piece and use it later perhaps, little snippets of it in other things. But thank you so much for listening itt really does help to say what's on your mind. One thing about these lace pieces....they are evidence that I know how to embroider buttonhole lace. It is all I have been doing for days.
It is one week today since I listed my two new classes...lace and alchmey. Thanks to all of you who will be turning up to school for those, it's appreciated. This morning the ones still in class got a lesson on bumpy bits and buttonholes so they won't be listening...or they shouldn't be listening they should be working! I will have to thank them later.....
