binding the dotty piece and a new class, pillows and pages
Normality? Well I guess I'm almost back to that if I was ever that in the first place. I basically just grabbed some cloth, thread, needles and scissors and ignored the madness unfolding around me yesterday. It worked....I think. I have some nicely titivated cloth to show for it anyway which is the perfect result as far as I am concerned....nothing else matters does it?
The dotty piece, the spotty piece....I have added binding and so far a half edge of loopy bullion knots. I apologise profusely for the fact that it isn't damp stretched. Shocking I know. It's almost like appearing naked in public....oh the shame.
The next big thing today is my new mini class, pillows and pages. This has been brewing for a while. I'm finally there, ready to open the doors. (the kettle isn't on though and there is no sign of cake yet)
pillows and pages is a mini online
learning experience taking place over a three week period and consisting
of unlimited access to a private group blog, an online photo sharing
group and a minimum of two videos per week (a minimum of six videos in
total).
During the course of our three weeks I will be demonstrating
the creation of three pillows. The size of these pillows is determined
by you. That is to say that you can create a small pin pillow or a
larger pillow for your bed or perhaps your special sofa. That decision
is entirely your choice.
Using various techniques of fabric
manipulation I will demonstrate how these can be used to create unique
and fascinating surfaces specifically for pillows. These processes
however will be easily transferable for other uses such as throws,
wraps, bags, anything you wish.
Alongside each pillow I will be
creating ledger pages, inspired by each pillows surface these small
paper based art pieces would live happily within a ledger, a sketchbook
or would make a lovely additional gift if you intended to present your
pillow to someone as a special keepsake.
Commencing Monday March 24.
Please allow 48 hours from registration for receipt of welcome mail.
Images illustrate technique which will be demonstrated during the three weeks of this course.
This class begins in just over two weeks time. Welcome mail will be sent from Monday 10 onwards.

The strategy of settling into your own world of stitch and cloth sounds like the right one. It's a reality of sorts, after all!
you didn't say 'piping' but i think i see some wonderful piping that is beautifully embellished. looks like those pillow forms i have around my house will finally be covered. sounds like a great mini class.
I know.....it is piping.....Im useless....sorry

I baked cake yesterday, and there is more left for today. I will enjoy some for you, Karen! I also settled into my own sewing world for the better part of two hours without interruption. Lovely is an understatement! I'm going to try to embrace another hour today. :) I will definitely put the kettle on for that.
and here i've been spelling it pipping - well! and was that you, i thought i saw a naked lady running out to the shop for a couple of take-outs! i won't tell anyway promise. just a quick question about pillows, will you be mentioning round pillows? i find the concept of round hard to execute as a pillow - to me the measuring is more of a trick. there doesn't have to be anything round really demonstrated but maybe just discussed in passing. the idea of having a small ledger also accompanying a pillow as part of the memory of the cloth is such a wonderful concept. sounds like a very happy class...where is the line forming for the cake.
I dont do round pillows but I can utter the words round pillows in passing. The cake line snakes around the corner....

just make it square and cut out a circle the size you want. it's easier that way. you don't lose much on the edges.
but round pillows have no corners.
Im partial to a corner

All looks very pretty here Karen :) x
Sounds marvelous..looks lovely. All that cake too!
So happy, Karen. I am actually home for two of the three weeks of the class and have just signed up. I wanted to do a pin pillow and if I keep my project small, I feel it is doable. I might go a little crazy with two flickr groups to be in at once but I accept the challenge. :)
love, oh how I love the little square dotty things...the piece is wonderful and sings an ever more beautiful song with all you are adding with stitch. One day later this year I will, yes I will, be able to take a class with you...what delight that will be, for certain sure.
The new class sounds fabulous, love the idea of the art pieces to go with the pillows. Look forward to seeing all the gorgeousness that comes from it
Karen, I just registered for your new mini-class. It sounds manageable for me. I like the pillow-idea and that it can be made small - as I like small things - and I have long been curious about the ledger and finally I like that there is no deadline to finish something.
Would love to take the new class, yes, why yes I would. Tell me, are ten more hours in each of the days for the three weeks included in the fee? Really do wish we humans hadn't been created being hardwired to have to sleep!
