For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

playing some more....

I am spending hours with white which I love and I have to say...struggle to put down...and occasionally I have a colour break, looking, sampling and thinking. This is from yesterdays colour and pattern hour. New samples, older samples, pretty paper plates that were bought to never be used....as plates anyway. Recent sketchbooks, older sketchbooks. My house is a tip. I am hoping this will all come together, a kind of blinding revelation moment...I wait, I hope....
oh and I bought some new water colour paint yesterday.....

p.s. I haven't mentioned Mothers Day...it isn't Mothers day In England, we have it in March...but Happy Mothers day if it is indeed Mothers Day where you are!

You create such wonderful effects with white, and it is lovely to see the same techniques applied to those soft pastel colours.

My! You have been busy. Just flipping back through your recent posts. You're back to a one-a-day habit, I see. :) These colours and patterns are so lovely, but then the white in the posts below is delightful too....
