For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

favourite....

Memory lane....a big, huge, rediscovery of images past. All of them mainly white, some with a touch of colour. All of them favourites, all of them now gone. It pays to hoard your images.

Thank you for taking us on this trip down memory lane, some beautiful pieces. It was the hooks and eyes that first brought me to your blog

Huge suggestion for you - take these images and put them onto a CD right this INSTANT because you never know what might happen. Take it from one who knows!

Image number three moves me quite unimaginably! I don't suppose I could find it on Flickr and favourite it....?
