For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

a white diversion

White isn't normally a diversion for me..I use it all the time. It's the subject matter that is the diversion, a small piece of embroidery on silk, a custom order. Truth be told I don't think I really had time to do this and it has taken me an age...sorry about that to the person who requested it. The lace isn't part of the order...I just made that last night and wanted to photograph it as I love it so much...reason enough?

beautiful as always. Looks like the wait was worth it. Love the cutouts

I've never yet had a client complain about the wait, and I'm sure you won't either!

Ohh.. lots of lovely bullion knots. For some reason this looks a bit... hmm.. "industrial" to me. Like a lot of tubes at a construction site. Well - me and my imaginations *LOL*

Hi Karen, had to stop by and see what you've been working on. I haven't been on Facebook in awhile so I haven't seen you lately.

Gorgeous, elegant textile art! It's always a pleasure to visit your blog!
