For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

love those hexagons
i like that weaving.
Karen, Karen....you are driving me nuts...so much inspiration, and no time to play...without giving away anything that you don't want to give away---what kind of stitching is that on the paper tag in the second photo? I'm not able to make it out.
Some day I am going to get out my boxes of laces, hankies, and doilies and see what I can put together. In the meantime I must just bow at your feet and look forward to the next post.
What I really want to do is combine paper and cloth into some kind of quilted wall hanging...just do quite have the vision yet.
ooh ah, oh, ooh!
looks lovely :-)
Wish I could come help you gather - promise to keep my coffee to myself. Being able to see this in real life would be such a treat!
I somehow missed these pictures-I really love the paper pricked flowers! Well, I love it all actually, but the flowers caught my attendtion.
