For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Definitely a slight change of style - really interesting, there are so many different elements to look at! I like the flower, and the way the rulers look like they've been blanket stitched.

Karen, your work is just beautiful, as always. I'm impressed with your design sheet. I never work with sketchbooks or design sheets or a pre-conceived idea other than the basic theme and color scheme. For me, I just allow my crazy quilt projects to be what they're going to be.
