For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

can't keep away...

I know, I know, I was going to stay away and work....well I have been working and I've been shopping and I've cleaned up and I've watched an excellent film and I have a new keyboard that actually has an ''s'' and an ''a'' and a ''y'' and a ''t''. O.K. you get the message, my keyboard was bare due to all the inane drivel I type on here. I have also added yesterdays piece to the toe wrap. I placed it so that the lace edge meets a broderie anglaise trimmed edge.
In the other direction it lies across a patchwork section and a white section and I like how with it being flimsy and lace it doesn't completely obscure the cloth underneath.
Thanks too for all your votes..(see p.s. below) at the moment I am in the lead for most annoying Englishwoman, running close to the winner for worst blogger and I am to be deported next tuesday after doing a brief stint as Prime Minister!!
Right Karen, get off the damned computer and do some proper work!!!

Now I'm glad you can't stay away because I love to see your work. Although being deported out of the UK is awful. Do you know where you are deported to? I hope Denmark!!!!

One last question: Which film did you watch? (Always looking for interesting titles)

i guess i missed you talking about a vote, but i have now voted. i'm going to have to invent some new words to complement your work instead of using the same ones over and over. how about 'superific'...

It looks so delicate

Funny thing is, I noticed this week some of my letters are disappearing too. I'm blaming the boys

I've voted - but let's just hope you don't get to be Prime Minister, because no-one will ever believe a word you say, AND you'll have no time for stitching. Although just think how much you could claim for a new keyboard!
I love the combination of crispy pressed gingham against that crochet lace and crunchy little knots x

I don't think I got to comment yesterday and let you know how much I like the ruffle and the lace edge. But you mention it again today so I'm telling you today! Pretty pretty!

Wow. This looks very nice. Love the lace against the gingham. Looks simply divine. And an afternoon all to yourself also sounds divine. I hope you enjoyed it.
