For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .
''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

I've just started doing some of these...not sure what you call them - the stitching on the cards? I'm hoping to make enough, out of scraps, for a quilt - I take my little baggie of them with me everywhere I go wh en I know I'm going to be sitting for a while - keeps me busy! I love your cloth with the hooks and eyes - so very clever! Everything, as usual, is so beautiful...and don't stress on cleaning the house before you start your job...it will all be there waiting for you when you come home! xo, Nan
