For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

More for Etsy

My latest Cloth is under way but at the very early, not very interesting stage. I have however put some more small embroidered pieces on etsy today. The first, fourth, fifth and six images here are all from the same piece of work, a large piece with cutwork, applique, lace and embroidery sections. (I know it would be easier to have had them run consecutively but I can't get them to move...sorry!)

This piece (below) contains various techniques, couching, embroidery and applique.
Whilst this one also has some cutwork.
This one is purely a selection of hand embroidery stitches.

It may be that you have seen small sections of these before, I have been working on them for a while, just picking them up every so often. Anyway, now they are finished.
I am going away for a few days now, to visit my lovely daughter.
I hope you still come to visit and leave comments, please, please, please............................
See you next week xx
