For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Putting things off.....avoidance technique!!

I have had a job application form to fill in, sitting on my computer table for a week now.......the closing date is fast approaching so I have to do it tonight, yawn, yawn, even posting this on the blog is avoidance. It would be a nice little job, only part time, not challenging at all, easy to get to and most importantly quite good pay and holidays etc. I just can't abide the form filling, I think I am on paperwork overload after doing a degree followed immediately by a P.G.C.E. Oh well, no form filling, definitely zero chance of employment!
I started to embroider this pattern onto my patchwork. The choice of flower is valid as it comes from a vintage cloth I have but it doesn't do it for me. I don't think it adds anything to the work, so I am going to unpick it.






I do have something else in mind to put on the work...................but not until the dreaded form is filled in.

Good luck with your form-filling and job hunt!
It is an advantage to see and understand what is not working for your patchwork or whatever project. I usually just go on and wonder afterwards why I don't like the finished piece. I hope you only made the one flower, unpicking is very unpleasant.
