For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Sample portfolio

port·fo·li·o

 (pôrt-fō′lē-ō′)
n. pl. port·fo·li·os
collection of works or documents that are representative of a person's skills and accomplishments

The penny finally dropped yesterday afternoon.....how to mount and display these little compositions and stitched works. This is the first ''page'' of what I hope will become six pages of embroidered samples, a mini design portfolio. I am thinking of these as an extension of my little artist books. Bigger pieces, more considered pieces, more surface embroidery, more composition, more layers....more.

The pink pieces are next....that will make two pages, four mini design samples.
