For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Paper, ribbon and French knots

There's a possibility that I will need to make more ''artist books'' in the near future so I thought I had best get a shift on and begin to create some little bits of stitch and texture to go inside those.
The first piece is very simple, a little vintage ribbon and a few French knots. Simple yet effective I think.
I am going away later this week for a couple of days so the shop will be shut from Wednesday evening. If you want to register for the new class before I go just follow the link. The shop will re open on Sunday.
