For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

one thing leads to another.....

Which came first? The silk piece is the answer. More has been added to that, more applique, more chain stitch. I am pondering on what, if anything I should put in the more open spaces. Maybe I will make titivations especially for those spaces........can you hear my brain ticking?
The lace piece was my afternoon task yesterday. For someone who used to avoid a sewing machine at all costs I would have been more than happy to stay there for hours yesterday.
