For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

bullion knots and chain stitch

A little relaxing embroidery today. We are in the middle of a storm, this is the calm within the storm. It's windy, it's wet.....I'm not leaving the house.
These two pieces are both ''in progress''. The pink and white piece I pick up an put down every so often. The silk piece, the ironing board piece I showed you yesterday. Later today I will be making an effort to sort my life out. I need lists for clarity and to fill the spaces in my always forgetful brain. What will I sew later today? I haven't a clue....another reason I need a list. If I don't get blown away I will see you tomorrow.
