For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

three pieces....

A little more work has been happening with toe wrap two. I gathered it all together late last night and realised that I now have three sections all waiting to be joined. They are all individually lovely, (in my opinion, you may think differently but hey, we live in a democracy!!) My intention was to ''peruse'' seam options, loops? points? I think loops have won and as I do need to get my sewing machine out to finish the hook and eye pieces it won't be too much of a hassle.

There are new additions that you haven't seen before....puffs along the edge that has the cotton lawn. As the fabric is quite ''busy'' I felt that any embroidery may get lost in the pattern so I made some puffs in off white. It worked, they stand proud and don't sink into the background like stitch would have.

Today I feel quite energised! We have glorious sunshine and I feel the need to plant some pansies in my wall pots outside...for those of you who don't know I am not known for my gardening skills so this is quite exciting, now I just have to decide where to buy them....soil on hands for the rest of the day then, better keep away from white!!

If I were lucky enough to have a toe wrap such as this, I know I'd have to spend time getting manicures on my feet. It would be just so wrong to wrap my ugly toes in such elegance.

The three pieces are beautiful. It is nice to see how your wrap is progressing.

It is autumn here and I am busy knitting myself a shawl using some of my stash yarn.

Great to know that the sun has brought you some energy!

You're right, it would be a pity to drown the figured lawn with embroidery.
