For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Moving back.....and a gingham pocket pillow.

Well, who knew I would be back here? It's temporary, I think. There are issues at my new place and I can't bear to be disconnected. How many people will come here and see this? Haven't a clue. There are no familiar stat records here....I shall just close my eyes and hold on tight, hoping that a few friends will stop by. Perhaps if you leave a comment, just say hi, I will get an idea that way? I'm not sure how long I will stay here, it's bit musty, could do with a good clean, an airing, there's no kettle never mind cake. Everything is over at the new place, the links for classes, the link for the shop, the link for the new Alchemy.
I am consoling myself with gingham, a new pillow pocket thingy. It's almost finished much to my amazement, a few more pointy things, a couple of applique bumps, a back, a pocket, a final titivation.....watch this space....or maybe the other space...I'm kind of homeless at the moment.

Alchemy link (because don't forget this is coming out of the shop later this week as I'm off to London, visiting fabric shops, eating cake, generally being very self indulgent!

Hi Karen - I found you actually in both places.

I am back working on my Ledger class and I see here is where it ends. I will spend some time going back over this blog and reviewing.

No kettle? and, worse yet, no cake? brother......

hahahah...never mind then, I'll just enjoy your gingham and let you know, I was one having difficulty getting onto the type pad site....but, I did figure it was just some glitch. After two days of not being able to open a few sites that I noticed were type pad addresses...I figured something was amiss...but, last night...there they were once again.......

I sat down this morning to do a grand catch up on all things Karen and skidded to a screeching halt when I realized that not only could I not read any of the comments on past posts, but I couldn't make one either. Horrors! Part of the fun of seeing your posts is to get to read the comments too. Wonder if Typepad is affected by that grandiose virus that everybody was rabbiting on about over the last week or so? Anyway....I'm here, I read all the posts, I wanted to comment, I drooled and wishful thought. Still working on #1 of 2 secret projects that I can't even begin to show even a corner of online.

How nice to visit an old stomping ground. I may stretch my legs now I'm here and take a little stroll around... visit old friends, coo over past delights. But before I go may i say how lovely your gingham is looking... and how appropriate to be showing it here. I believe there are other lovely gingham items from the past to be sought out on this site also.

Doesn't matter where you are, looks like we all manage to fond you :-) it was a nice surprise to look at the previous post and see where you were then, it's interesting to see how you've pushed the colours since then, from just accents to full on :-)
Hope you sort it soon.

Damn modern technology and all the stupid stresses it brings to us! Thank goodness you have a back up plan, dusty and cakeless though it may be!

I have just found your blog and I love your whitework embroidery and reading what you've written. I think seeing other people's work is so inspiring. I do whitework, although of a more traditional and less free variety than yours - I make whitework monograms for wedding presents of which I need quite a few as my husband is a vicar. I'd be delighted if you'd take a look at my blog http://www.addisonembroideryatthevicarage.co.uk .
with best wishes for continued enjoyment of sewing,
Mary Addison
