For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

a small mistake.....

Can you see it? This is a very small piece of white cloth, 2 inches by 8 inches measured precisely to fill a gap on my cloth. It was going to be a simple alphabet section...only thing is the 'c' is next to the 'a' because I didn't count correctly meaning there wasn't enough space to fit the 'b' at the top and then when I had decided it didn't matter and I would do up and down letters I worked out that by the time I got to 'h' or something the same problem would come up again. Such is life, nobody died, change of plan. I just left the letters where they were as an illustration and reminder of my incompetence and cross stitched little stalks and leaves which were then finished off with French Knot flowers. From disaster comes triumph...OK triumph is a little over the top but at least I have a (passable?) piece of embroidery.

you see things in your own work that nobody else would. i think it looks fine as it is and as though it was meant to be that way.

Always good when a change of plan works out!

Those that know your work would just assume you'd cut up words again. With these things, there is no right or wrong, it will all look beautiful

Just a thought - could you cleverly disguise the letter with some flowery stitching....or some cutwork...or both? That's assuming, of course, that the letters bother you in any way. Personally I think they look great.

one thing about making your cloths you could always change and cut out hexagons with the letters and resew to the 2 x 8 size and have a whole new looking piece. I think the neat word was titivate. We don't make mistakes we titivate. Make a whole new look. But then again I think it will look great as is to.

I hate it when that happens. But, you are the one who will be more upset about such things than others who see it. Your work is gorgeous!

That is definitely one of the loveliest humility blocks that I've ever seen! ;)
