For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

extending Ledgers...

We are moving along to embroidery now in school, I am consumed by ledgers and consumed by white.
This is calling to me every minute and I am determined to piece it together tomorrow...or maybe this evening and have it backed and finished before the next five days have passed. In truth it won't be a long process, just a little tricky. Not tricky in terms of actually doing it but tricky in getting the space to lay it out and piece it together, pin it, tack it....Once that has been done it will be a relatively quick process, just one or two seams to embellish and puffs to add along the edge and hey presto. Sounds easy when I put it like that......

I'm really enjoying seeing the process from the starting picture to stitch, and the thought processes behind it.

It does indeed sound easy. Unusual colours, too, it seems to me?

I'm taking it all in and enjoying every one of your stitches. Those knotty flowers are delightful! (Or are they naughty?)
