For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

still pottering....

My eye doesn't like the computer.....hence the zillion unanswered e-mails, sorry! Instead I have been pottering with white, creating new sections for my new wrapping cloth. Bullion knots, web stitches, needle weaving, tacking, arranging, basically having fun. (to the girls in my class I am going to show you bullion knots and needle weaving, we will get there. It's all part of my master plan) Heck, I have even done some housework...mark the date down, it may not happen again for a while. Tomorrow by way of pottering I will be on window boxes, geraniums and such....its time for pretty windowsills....

We could all do with some pottering right along with you if this is the result. I do think I see some new stitches on here - those little wheelie things (for lack of a better name) for instance.

I'm impressed, when my eye was sore I'm not even sure I could have coped with embroidery but you do it so well!
