For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

a pocket....

I made a pocket, you know me....I love my pockets. This pocket is on my new white cloth, the cloth for the person who doesn't have the internet...remember? I know you do because there were gasps of horror from some quarters that I actually know someone who doesn't have the internet. It just so happens that I know a couple of people without the internet.....and they don't live in caves either although how they manage without it is beyond me..anyway, I digress. I also spoke about needing a label for this, some text. Well the label is now ordered....we wait.
We are in week 5 of our 6 week cloth class. It will be coming to an end next week. Please go have a look at what the girls are up to (here), it's fantastic. Time flies in Karen's Global Embroidery School...I really don't know how we got here so fast. My cloth will probably not be finished by then but what's new.....anyway I have an excuse now....I'm waiting for a label.

Love the edging on your pocket! It looks rather like the outline of a maple leaf.

Lovely pocket, but I am enthralled with the wonderful little cutworks with the bullion tumbling out of them. So precious!
