For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

if only....

I have a plan. Then again I always have plans that take forever to come to fruition, my May newsletter being a prime example! Although we are still in May so technically I haven't failed on that one....yet. I run out of time, the days fly by, the weeks creep up, you spot a bit of dust and the whole house has to be cleaned. You fancy a ten minute practice session with satin stitch and it turns into an hour....you get my drift. I know I am the most disorganised person ever. I get a lot done but not in any sensible, logical order. There is just this huge whirlwind of stuff going on and at the end of it most of my aims are achieved....note I said most. Actually....creatively, embroidery wise I always get there its just the other stuff, the ''office like'' stuff that gets put aside and ignored and basically it's not good enough. Get a grip girl, get organised. So back to my plan. Close the etsy shop and move EVERYTHING to Big Cartel. I prefer it there, less hassle I think, easier to find your way round that place.... I have made a start by listing new cloth over there...the move of other stuff  may take a while. We have been here before remember, embroidery will take over so don't hold your breath.
Something exciting has happened today too....a few weeks ago I was interviewed. Not in any 'posh hotel', china cups of coffee, face to face shaking hands kind of way but interviewed all the same. Actually, please don't be too impressed....it was an e-mail but beggars can't be choosers. Well today it is out, gone Global, there for all to see...get the kettle on, put your feet up, sit back and relax whilst reading this.

I tried and failed to add my comment yesterday. I ended up with a Latvian google site to sign into. I wish it would remember my language preference is for English.

Anyway I said that once upon a time I could do satin stitch beautifully, but now I haven't the patience and probably the eyesight/coordination to do it. Silly really that I was better at satin stitch as a kid than as a mature adult!!!!

That new shopping site looks interesting, will you be putting the link to it at the top of your blog?

great exposure in that interview. love the lace overlay in the bottom image. i think time is a problem for us all. i used to be much more organized when i had to go to work every day. now the organization has gone out the window.

great interview. For classes like yours, the internet has proved to be a real blessing. There's no way I would have been able to get to a bricks and mortar class.
