For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

pink

I told you there was pink on my table. A pink smocking sample that I made to illustrate a point to the girls...Technically it's the last day of school today...technically. As usual I am not finished, I am not organised, I am basically useless. Please don't let that put you off though, we just go on until I catch up...Christmas then.
I bought myself some of these this morning, also pink. I could happily admire them for days and do nothing else except gaze....that's my weekend sorted. No seriously, my weekend will be busy, stitching of course and perhaps a little housework. A question....how good do you have to be for someone to gift you a maid?

Looks so sweet! I love square fabrics almost as dot fabrics :)

i love the way you allow the light to filter through your images when photographing. i would hate having a maid even though my house could use one.

When you find out, please let me know! I for one, am not complaining about the class continuing, gives me chance to catch up some more

How pretty. Love the pink gingham. It reminds me of clothing my mother made for me when I was little. Very lovely memories.

Well, as it's pink and white check, it goes very well with all that white, and the smocking is lovely!

Wow! That was a surprise burst of colour this morning, and very beautiful it looks, your photos are stunning, must try harder.
Hmmm, I think the gifting of a maid might need subtle persuasion, perhaps a few unironed shirts( not that I do ironing personally) or maybe 1 too many ready meals :-)

I love the pink gingham - it's cheery and with the little bit of smocking, it's just sweet!

If you figure out the maid issue, please let me know! I really shouldn't complain tho' because Jack does all the cooking (I'm ducking, because I know objects are being flung at me right now). I've never been a huge lover of pink, but it does look so perfect alongside pristine white.
