For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

new white and the second half....

I am making progress with the second section of this...I also have new white in progress. Another wrapping cloth for someone who shall remain nameless...sorry about that. On Thursday I go to London for five days and my to do list isn't getting smaller, it's getting longer! Not to worry, I will be on my holidays, searching for vintage cloth and having tea with Alice in Wonderland. I will be having balloons and cake for my little girls birthday too.....it's going to be amazing!

I am amazed at how your work is becoming more and more encrusted with stitchery. I have seen great changes in just the few months that I have been following you.

At first glance I thought it was a wedding dress bodice! Now that would be an idea to do next maybe? lol
This is simply divine.......I too love the colours and flowers peeking thru, not quite captured.
