For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

You deserve it all!!

I blame you, you know.. you have inspired me, the hopeless quilter, to start embroidering.
I've almost finished my first crewel piece and I'm planning going to London this summer to take a class at RSN (please don't faint!)
So you deserve all the credit you get - you are a great inspiration

That was a nice little article. After reading more about you, I am the one who is honored by getting to learn from you.

I have been thinking of you this past weekend; I have been embellishing my next art quilt with little web stitches. I think there are also french knots in this piece's future.

Keep the beauty coming; you are a treasure.
