For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

pocket and paperwork...

Embroidery on my pocket is now complete. I added cross stitch in ''sampler'' form to the large lower area that was plain white Egyptian cotton. I think it works..... This will be lined with silk and some attention given to the edges before it is finished. I haven't made a final decision on those edges yet, maybe some tiny hand made ball buttons. That will depend on me getting my act together and actually making them....If you could see my table you would run away screaming in horror, stuff everywhere. Wrapping paper, gifts, ironing, similar to the worst boot sale you ever went to! In truth I doubt this will get any more attention before Christmas. It will be safer ''put away''.
Whilst I was working on ''paperwork'' last night I noticed how similar that is to my embroidery...well it is to me at least. Today when I was photographing this I placed some ''paperwork'' alongside...it is blindingly similar don't you think? Now I'm going to try and figure out what that says about me?????
So far this week I have finished ALL video demonstrations for the Stitched workshop!! (top right side bar) I am so relieved about that. Thursday I hope to upload them all and tick that box as well and truly done. Tomorrow I venture ''up north''; bearing gifts....and on the home front...I am still taking registration for

no rest for the wicked.....

You will run yourself wrecked and find yourself burned out before the holidays. Please don't forget to take good care of Karen.

Wow, just gorgeous! That feeling of finishing a project is just wonderful, isn't it! :) And, when you finish a project you have made another heirloom. Wonderful.

I would say you have developed your own very specific creative language and "handwriting" - which is probably a very good thing!

You are a busy girl. No one can expect you to have an orderly table when you are putting out all this beautiful work!

I love the pocket and the repeating pattern you've created. It's white, it's beautiful, and the pattern gives it a wonderful rhythm ......
