For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

four corners

The four corners of this. Making this involved a huge journey resulting in a precious cloth for Helen comprising many areas of interest, of focus, of delight. I will show you more of these from time to time.

I think a small book featuring the details and the story behind them will be of great value behind them too. Fabulous project, born of love!

Have a wonderful holiday!

just love that little tatted strip in the last image. I might have to get out my tatting shuttle so I can add some pink tatting to my cloth.
