For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

silk.....

Silk for you today, old work yet special work. Again these are cloths for my children but I shan't go into detail as I don't want to make anyone cry. And I know you are thinking 'how many cloths does one offspring need?' well if you have a mother with nothing better to do then this is what happens....you get a cupboard full of cloth! If you are in my online group I have put together a kind of 'show and tell' about these that you will see at some point. I hope you will look forward to it rather than think ''on no, what's she going to be banging on about now.''
For the rest of you, please don't think I'm posting old stuff as a cop out., I'm not. I am merely trying to get slightly ahead and have new things to show you tomorrow. Well I say new things, it's boring old toe wrap two but new pieces for that. On Sunday, if you are very good I may have some new white....

Love to see your 'old stuff' and a mother can never, ever express her love too often.

Keep stitching I'll see you sunday, enjoy your weekend with or without husband.

I can almost feel that silk!! Must admit it's probably my favourite of fabrics but it's so difficult for me to work with - I spend entirely too much time fondling it and don't get any stitching done. I really hope your kids know exactly how lucky they are!!

Karen-

OMG-this is stunningly beautiful! I will never tire of seeing your beautiful work! And as an artist, I believe that you should envoke emotions and you do! I can look at your work all day-really I can. It is so inspiring. Please keep inspiring the embroidery world with you talent!

Just had a look through your blog, you have done so much, this really needs to be a book also, so much to see and read. I could take it on the plane with me. Your course is going well and there are also some beautiful pieces of work. Very inspiring

Really interesting texture on the non-patchwork piece. I know there's a name for that technique and it escapes me in the brain fog that is Saturday tea time. Glad the course is going well.

So much great texture! I've said it before but I'll say it again: I just adore your work.
