For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

close up....

Several close up images for you of the latest completed section of my cloth for Helen. In truth I am only a few hours from having this piece finished. There are one or two areas that require a ''little something'' then it's on to backing and adding finishing touches in the form of embellishments. I hope to show you the finished cloth in a couple of weeks. Although it will be finished by next week my girls need to see it first.
Next week is the last week of my first 'embroider, embellish, create' course and I am going to miss it a lot more than you know. I will be running it again after Christmas and I haven't forgotten that I am meant to be putting descriptive pages on here regarding my online learning courses.
I have been a bit ''off'' the last couple of days, upset stomach, most likely something I ate. Consequently computers and internet have taken a bit of a back seat.
However, nausea permitting I hope to have a little announcement tomorrow...I am keeping my fingers crossed. A lot of the ground work is done already and if I take my time I may just make it.....
( a small bonus from this bug or whatever it is.....he who pays for my holidays is doing the supermarket run on his own.....every cloud and all that)

Oh, I do hope you are feeling better soon. Have you thought of those Gravol pills for car and sea sickness to ban the nausea?
Stunning work, as always.

Hey ho just checking in. Haven't been over for a while, just been too busy for all this blogging malarky. All is looking ever so beautiful. You have one lucky girl. I've been doing an all white scene from a well known show. Been saving some of the scraps for you. Most of it is a load of old plop, neoprine and lycras, but there is the odd gem. xx
